Back Country Clinic

 

 

This is a specialty clinic designed to combine a relaxing time of enjoying the stunning Maury Mountains with the opportunity to challenge your horsemanship skills.  Sessions will include a variety of riding environments (including gathering cattle, and will culminate with a day ride to a beautiful mountain meadow.  You can bring your own sleeping accommodations or choose to say in the rustic, but comfortable, log cabin.  There are either bunk rooms or the spacious Master Suite with private bathroom to choose from.  The facility is located in the foothills of the Maury Mountains on a 700+ acre ranch.  This place has it all, from sagebrush flats to mountain foothills and rolling foothills to an aspen-lined creek and wildlife is abundant and diverse.  This fully catered clinic will leave you wanting more of this beautiful and peaceful ranch life.  The clinic begins Wednesday at lunch and ends Saturday at lunch.  It will include 1 riding session on each of those days and two on both Thursday and Friday.  This clinic has limited enrollment.  Cost:  $775 for clinic instruction and meals.  If you choose to lodge in the cabin, the cost is $25 per person per night for bunkroom lodging, or $60 per night for the room.

Beginning Vaquero Horsemanship Series

This series is an introduction to the equipment and its use, and the methods of training used in developing the finished product of a vaquero style bridle horse.  This series is intended to begin with the initial use of a hackamore and start participants on the path to developing a light, responsive and collected horse.  Limited to 8 riders, this series is $120.

Open Class Cow Clinic

This clinic is open to all stages of riders and horses.  It will focus on the fundamental maneuvers of cow work.  The clinic will provide a variety of situations  in which we will work on developing our horses' interest  as well as ability to control a cow.  We will work in herd and single cow situations.  Limited to 10 riders, this clinic is $170 plus cattle charges.

Trail Clinic

This clinic will take place at the highly developed trail training course located at Bentwire Ranch in Tumalo, Oregon.  The focus of this clinic is on exposing horses to an assortment of trail type obstacles and teaching them to calmly and safely negotiate them.  The morning session will be on the ground with lead lines.  The afternoon will be under saddle.  Participants can choose to participate in one or both classes, and use one or two horses.  Limited to 8 participants, this clinic is $140 for the morning classes and $140 for the afternoon classes.
